I Need a Root Canal

So right now I'm pretty doped up on pain killers at the moment. My tooth has been hurting ever since I got my cavity filled a while back. So today I decided to go have it checked out. Turns out I need a root canal. That sucks. Whats worse is that I can't get it done until the 14th! That is forever away! I had pain killers left over from when I thought i broke my leg, So i took two. Yes yes I KNOW i shouldn't take medicine that was prescribed for something else... yeah yeah yeah, but it is a painkiller. A pain killer is a painkiller. So I took two(it said I could) because it was really hurting. I'm super dizzy and staring at this scren probably isn't helping :-)

Anyway. It seems like I have posted a lot of songs lately. I seemed to have tapped into my creative side or something. Well today during all my tooth pain and visit to the dentist I remembered another good ol' song.

What do I look for in a Song? Lyrics.

Meredith Brooks - Bitch

I couldn't find the music video... so here is someones rendition with SIMS

I hate the world today
your so good to me i know
but i can't change
tried to tell you but you look at me like maybe I'm an angel underneath
innocent and sweet
yesterday i cried
must have been relieved
to see the softer side
i can understand how you'd
be so confused
i don't envy you
i'm a little bit of everything
all rolled into one

i'm a bitch
i'm a lover
i'm a child
i'm a mother
i'm a sinner
i'm a saint
i do not feel ashamed
i'm your hell
i'm your dream
i'm nothin' in between
you know you wouldn't want it any other way

so take me as i am
this may mean you'll have to be
a stronger man
rest assured that when
i start to make you nervous
and i'm going to extremes
tomorrow i will change
and today won't mean a thing

i'm a bitch
i'm a lover
i'm a child
i'm a mother
i'm a sinner
i'm a saint
i do not feel ashamed
i'm your hell
i'm your dream
i'm nothin' in between
you know you wouldn't want it any other way

i'm a bitch
i'm a tease
i'm a goddess on my knees
when you're hurt
when you suffer
i'm your angel undercover
i've been numb
i'm revived
can say i'm not alive
you know you wouldn't want it any other way

I've been Critiqued!

Thank-you to Skittles who provided me with directions over to Critique My Blog! I have been Critiqued! Click the HERE what they have to say about me :-)

I have been having some issues with my car leaking so I had to take it to the dealer this morniing... again. I had my sister meet me there and then she drove me over to my Dad's house so I could take his truck and head to class. I decided to take a somewhat back way to class to avoid some horrible traffic.

All the sudden I began to slip and slide everywhere. Before I knew it I was on the other side of the road facing the opposite direction I was going. My first wreck ever. (well, besides that b*tch who rear-ended me). A lady stopped to make sure everything was okay and she called the police so the road could get salted. After the cop got there and she left - I saw about 20 different cars slip and slide on the black ice... none of them made it as far as I did though! The tow truck even slipped! The police office radioed to have a salt truck come out...

Anyway. I'm glad that I didn't hit someone comming the other way and I'm glad the trees stopped me before I ended up in the creek. I'm VERY glad I didn't total my Dad's car. The bumper tore off and the whole passenger side is a dented and dinged, but other than that it's fine. The right passenger side wheel slid off the rim... We had the car Towed to my dads. We took of the tire and took it to a place down the street... they fixed it for free!So nice.

We did a test drive of the car and I bought my dad lunch at IHOP. So much for going to classes today.

What I Really Meant to Say

I have to have at least one meeting every quarter being an RA. Here are my notes from the meeting I had tonight. In red is what I would really like to say. But can't because that would be unprofessional! *Gasp* It's all in good humor. Please don't take me too seriously.

Room Checks are coming up very soon. It's that time again. Remember how you all got paranoid, panicked and freaked out last time? Do that again, it was great the entertainment. Especially when you realized I wasn't going to root though your stuff. you got worried about nothing.

If you need any maintenance done in your room you can fill out the form online.
Please be sure to be very detailed in your request. Room # building #.

Good luck with that by the way. Nothing EVER gets done.

I will not be doing the checks so make sure everything is in order. You will get a notice beforehand.
You're worried that a different RA checking your room will be more strict. Truth is I do everything thoroughly and correct. You will actually probably get off easier with out me doing your room checks. No need to fret.

If you are underage, NO alcohol is allowed to be in your room.
But I imagine it's there anyway. So please hide it.

As a reminder, if you are under age – there should be no consumption of alcohol anywhere in Tower. Even if you have friends that are of age, remember there is no drinking in the common areas, stairwells or hallways.

Remember Cleanliness Pigs. Well I guess at times I can fall into this catagory as well. but most of you are really really gross!

Your room AND your bathroom!

Bunked beds

Make sure that when you move out you un-bunk your bed. They will charge fees if the room isn’t left how you found it.

No windows should be opened at any time. Be aware that you can be fined for this. Not to mention it throws of the AC/Heat for everyone in the building.
Don't act like you didn't know. Do you read ANYTHING that has been passed out?

Smoking / fire hazards

NO smoking – ANY substances. Please keep an eye on any food you may be cooking – especially popcorn!
Weed is an illegal substance. Popcorn in the microwave for 10 minutes tends to catch on fire. I HATE getting up to a fire alarm at 2 am

It is your responsibility to keep bedroom doors and suite doors locked at all times. Not locking doors puts yourself and others at risk.
I don't understand why you leave them unlocked anyway. I hope all your stuff gets stolen. then maybe you will learn. Just kidding...

Please be aware of the noise level and time. NO RUNNING in the halls. It is simple respect for other residents. As it gets warmer outside, please keep in mind this includes noise level outside on the patio. Many rooms are affected by noise out there. I hate you.

You are responsible for your guests - their noise level and behavior. Can't you go to their place?

PLEASE READ YOU HANDBOOK. Remember that paper you signed? Yeah, I didn't think so...

Creative Craft

I volunteer at a park (in case you didn't know). I set up a craft room with some kind of craft for the kids to do. While looking at the Wish Jar, I saw an idea I wanted to use. I had to modify it a little bit for the kids... but I think it turned out pretty well. You can just tear off the day when its over! I actually think I might make one for myself!!

I love coke, but I shouldn't

As I sit here drinking what will be my LAST pop, I came across this article. It's about pop and what it does to your body. YIKES

Friday Flashback

This is a quick short and sweet flashback. I just now realized its Friday ;-).

Whenever my mom had to stop at the grocery store me and my younger sister would usually opt to stay in the car(minivan). While my mom was in the store me and my sister would make up songs. We would each take a turn singing a line. most of the time the songs made no sense and we would end up laughing like crazy.

Good times.
Love Will Save the Day - Des'ree

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try to keep your head up to the sky
Lovers they may cause you tears
Go ahead release your fears
Stand up and be counted
Don't be shamed to cry

You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard
You gotta be tough
You gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool
You gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All i know all i know is love will save the day

Harold what your mother said
Read the books your father read
Try to solve the puzzles in your own sweet time
Some may have more cash than you
Others take a different view
My oh my, eh eh eh

You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard
You gotta be tough
You gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool
You gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All i know all i know is love will save the day

Time asks no questions
It goes on without you
Leaving you behind if you can't stand the pace
The world keeps on spinning
Can't stop it if you try to
The best part is danger staring you in the face

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try to keep your head up to the sky
Lovers they may cause you tears
Go ahead release your fears
My oh my eh eh eh

You gotta be bad
You gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard
You gotta be tough
You gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool
You gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All i know all i know is love will save the day

A Structured Post

An Idea from The World According to Me

Work/School: Work is okay. Babysitting seems to be getting worse. There is always some reason she doesn't need me... snow and not having enough kids to watch are some factors. But I depend on the money. I NEED to work at least 3 days a week there, and it's not always happening. (I work at an in home child care). The RA job is going good, same old same old... they maybe hiring another female RA, which means I will get to move out of the building I'm currently in. That would be ideal. I would have my own bathroom. I'll start back up at the golf place in March. I'm excited about that. I don't know why I like that job. The people I work with I guess? It's just really laid back and I enjoy it.
School... Lets just say I have two days to read a book and write a lengthy paper on it. And stats homework due the SAME day. Oh Goooooodie. I'd rather be blogging - Obviously.

Play/Entertainment: There hasn't been much, and there needs to be more. I work too much and for the past couple weeks have been on call every other weekend... not to mention going out costs $.

Friends/Family: My Mom lives in CA and that is to far away and i cannot afford to go see her and that makes me want to CRY. I will be taking a road trip with the little sis in march to go see the big sis in FL (you can hit the donate button now :-) )!

He has this Idea. Wear Yourself Out. That I believe could actually take off, even if it is a joke ;-)

Nevins. Go into business. Please. :-D

I want to be a better person. I want to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water everyday.I want to work out everyday. I want to look fabulous with out trying. I want to take long walks. I want to help others. I want to donate goods. I want to make people smile. I want to learn new things. I want to eat right. I want to answer questions. I want to be creative. I want to look on the bright side. I want to be productive. I want to be sexy. I want to read all the books I have waiting for me. I want to love more. I want to laugh more. I want to recycle more. I want to be efficient. I want to be effective. I want to be recognized. I want people to spell my name right. I want to graduate. I want to have my own place. I want to be organized. I want to be recognized. I want to build something. I want to travel the world. I want to send a message. I want to cheer someone up. I want to see the next episode of Grey's Anatomy. I want to volunteer more. I want fill my pockets with just enough to make it by. I want to sleep in every day. I want smell the roses. I want to make people care. I want to speak my mind. I want to get stuff for free. I want to cut coupons. I want to read the paper. I want to stay up all night. I want to watch a meteor shower. I want to camp out without a tent. I want to run through the halls of my high school. I want to scream at the top of my lungs. I just found out there's no such thing as the real world. Just a lie you've got to rise above. Oh, is that a song?

Not that I'm not some of these things, or don't do some of these things. I just felt like putting it out there.

My M&M

I saw this on an ad and then quickly forgot it... then today I was hitting the random blog button and came across it again. I forget where I was when I saw it... But anyway. If I were a m&m this is what I would look like :-D

This Just In...

Britney Spears SHAVES HER HEAD.

What do you have to say about it?

I'm speechless.

...Thanks Kevin for keeping me up to date on the stuff that really matters :-D

Sore to the CORE

I've started stretching every night. It's a really good thing for you to do everyday and can prevent future injuries. I haven't been running this past week, so I have been doing a modified version of throw downs we used to do in high school. They are meant to target your abs, also called your core.

Throw Downs This is done with a partner. Lay on your back, with your legs vertical. Your partner stands with his or her feet on either side of your head. You grip your partners ankles. Your partner throws your legs down to the ground, and then you raise your legs back to the vertical. Your partner may choose to throw your legs straight down, or to an angle, at his or her whim. This is repeated 20 times

I've just been gripping the bottom of my bed post and raising my legs up and down. HOLY CRAP am I sore. OMG I haven't been this sore in a LONG time. I suggest doing this if you need a mini work out. It will work.

Looking Out The Window

Friday Flashback

The flashback this week is about my blanket. Around my house we each had one of these blankets, in different colors. We call them our Venezuela blankets. My mom went on a trip to Venezuela back in the day, I think for work with YFU, the student exchange program I've talked about in a previous Friday Flashback. She stayed with the family of one of our favorite exchange students when she was down there, Oscar.

While she was gone she called home to say hello, all three of us told her that Dad was knocking down the kitchen wall. Doing a little remodeling that we didn't necessarily know was going to happen, Though I think she did (right mom?).

She brought us back these blankets as a souvenir. I STILL have mine and still love it! IT is more than 12 years old... probably more. It's amazing how old things are, you don't really realize it until you think back on it...

I braved the cold today and went to the park for some photo opportunities. Double click the picture to see more...

... I am much better at taking pictures of people :-)

Happy Valentines Day

What do you love?

I guess the first thing that comes to my mind are the people in my life! Friends and Family!

Who Turned off the Lights?

I've been in the DARK for the last 4 hours. So glad to have the power back.... so I can finish cleaning :-D
It was dark outside (8pm), but for some reason it looks pretty bright out. This is a picture of me taking a picture into a mirror that is opposite of my window.

Hopefully the sleet ends soon. I can not afford to miss work tomorrow!! $$

It is amazing how quickly my room takes a turn for the worse. It is a MESS.... as you can see. I wrote a post awhile back - How To Mess Your Room Up in 10 Easy Steps. Ive got at least half of those covered that you can see in this picture, and the rest are out of camera view.

Check back later to see
if I've made any progress!

Crossing my fingers

I feel like a middle schooler sitting here with my fingers crossed reading the scrolls along the bottom of the TV. I'm constantly checking the university's website in hopes of cancellation....

... I just have this FEELING that it is actually going to happen. So I'm writing this post and then going to bed. I'll hold off studying for my exam tomorrow, until tomorrow :-)

UPDATE: My feeling was right! I woke up this morning at 6 am to start studying.... but I took a look at the schools website... and BAM! Classes are CANCELED!

LOOK what I got! Thank you so much Skittles and Bestest Blog of All Time!
This was AWESOME to come home to after work today.

Yesterday S.b. and I went on a mini road trip to Indianapolis to Visit J.t., who goes to school up there. We got there about 5 and shortly after, went out to eat. THEY STILL HAVE FAZOLI'S IN INDY!If you haven't been, and there is one near you... What are you waiting for?! They have the best bread sticks. The spaghetti (with meat sauce) is pretty good too!

We decided it was too cold and we were too tired to go "out" out. So we went to the mall and saw a movie instead. We decided on Because I Said So. I really liked it... definitely a "chick flick" and of course Mandy Moore finds some way to sing in EVERY movie she is in :-/ ... But still a cute movie.

I Have Too Much Time On My Hands

I love doing the hair for the little girls at the daycare I work at. So far I have learned to Fishbone Braid, French braid... and this one I learned today - A Reverse French Braid. I just can't figure out why I can braid my own hair SO much better than doing it on someone else. Here is the final project.

Ew. Look how weird my ear is! lol

Friday Flashback

Why and how these caught on, I have NO idea but I had some. These little round cardboard disks are called POGS. Where I grew up they sold them at the local movie rental place, Mavericks. My sisters and I had TONS of them we traded them and won them from each other and friends. If I remember correctly you make a small stack and take turns hitting the stack with a "slammer." Whichever ones flipped over you won and got to keep. The slammers were the same circle shape, just a little thicker and heavier, and made out of some metal or plastic. The POGS were kept in a long cylindrical case with a screw on top. I remember having a lime green one. they were all the rage... but quickly fizzled out.

Did You have any POGS? Did your kids?

Where do you find a decent guy? Please tell me!

Well.... I'm sorry to say it just doesn't work out that way. LoL.

Where did you meet your better half?

Ps. Happy 200th post. Thanks to all who have inspired ideas and posted comments!

Slice me off a Piece of THAT

If you don't like disgusting. Don't read

Around this time last year I decided to go shopping. I went to Meijer, shopped around and decided to buy some healthy snacks. I picked my favorite apple, a Granny Smith. Mmmm peanut butter would be yummy with this I thought to myself. I searched around for the right isle and put some JIF in my cart... I passed the Oreos, couldn't resist them and put them in my cart too.

Well If I'm going to have peanut butter with my apple I better get a knife that will cut through an apple, surely plastic won't work. So I pushed my cart over to the kitchenware section and picked out a shiny black handled knife.

So when I woke up the next afternoon (yes I said afternoon). I had a few Oreos that were calling my name, then I remembered my apple. Yum! I pulled out the apple. Tore open the knife package. Held the apple in my hand and placed the knife against the green peal. Man this is a hard apple *Erika applies more force*. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!? I see something fly across the room and a red stream squirt out of the end of my finger. I reach for the paper towels and realize that the end of my finger was the thing I saw fly across the room.

I panic. I don't know what to do. I haven't really looked at it. I don't know how much is gone. I call my mom on the phone SCREAMING and CRYING. I didn't know what to do. Should I call an ambulance? How the hell am I going to get to the hospital? My mom calms me down a bit. I find a towel and the end of my finger. Its gross. A little lump of skin. I decide that it is not big enough to sew back on. How am I going to get to the hospital? I just moved in here, I don't know anyone! I throw on some dirty clothes laying around and flip flops. I walk all the way to my car in the parking garage with a beach towel around my hand crying. I hop in the car and go. I'm in the car and realize, I don't know where a hospital is. (I just moved down here. I didn't know where anything was). There is a hospital RIGHT down the street. But I don't think its a hospital I can go to. I drive all the way around the area not knowing what to do and where to go. I pass the University's Hospital, not knowing what building is actually the hospital. Finally I come across a hospitals name I recognize and think my insurance works at. I pull in and literally walk all over the place trying to find where to go in (after I drove around trying to figure out where to park). Finally at last. The Emergency Room. Which I end up sitting for FOUR HOURS. "FAST TRACK" my ass. I'm sitting there crying in pain as people who come in after me go in before me. What the heck is going on? A thug who had gotten SHOT the night before, who was in the waiting room waiting for his girlfriend to get off work starting getting pissed they weren't helping me. He went to "yell" at them twice. Apparently all the rooms where they do cuts and whatnot were filled.

So i finally get fixed up - cleaned out and bandaged up. I had to visit a hand specialist person after that.

Moral of the story. USE A CUTTING BOARD! And if you decide to cut something. DON'T cut your finger. There are a lot of nerves and feelers there! and it HURTS LIKE HELL.

The end of my finger is still numb. Always will be. :-/

... That was my LONGEST post ever. LoL

Still messing with it

I'm still messing with the banner thing. Give it time. I will have something better than that...

College Relationships

The 10 Types of College Relationships....

Oh, relationships. When they’re good, they’re great. When they’re bad, you seriously contemplate homicide, homosexuality or both. College relationships are usually sought after for a variety of reasons: boredom, revenge, increased social status, financial gain, naïveté, or just a bit of genital exercise. But regardless which of these perfectly acceptable motives drives your commitment (or lack thereof), ultimately it will be your peers who will judge you, and then group you into one of the following 10 college relationships.... Wind Chill Advisory

I dont think I can remember the last time it has been THIS cold....

Statement as of 9:26 PM EST on February 04, 2007

... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM EST Monday...

A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM EST Monday.

Single digit temperatures will combine with winds of 10 to 20 mph
to produce dangerously low wind chills. Wind chill readings of 10
to 15 below zero are expected tonight into Monday morning.

A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when a strong wind will combine
with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for
exposed skin. The wind will make it feel like it is between 10 and
15 degrees below zero. Those planning to venture outdoors should
use common sense and dress warmly... making sure that all exposed
skin is covered.

... I'm guessing this is why a lot of schools around here have 90 minute delays. The kids can't stand out and wait for the bus in this weather? We had a few flurries... but I think that is all the snow we are getting tonight and during the day tomorrow....

Superbowl Commercials

I didn't see many Superbowl commercials... but this one I liked.

My Older Sister Makes Me Jealous

My sister is so good at photography and the computer. I wish I could do it! She is working on her portfolio for class right now (in web page form). Here is her start.

I suggested that she make the white blobs clickable, where they would each say something. Like Bio. Photos. Contact etc. But we'll see what she does. Whatever it is I'm sure it will be awesome and creative. I cannot wait to see the final product!

Feel free to visit her links on the right hand side. I think both are under construction... but check them out anyway!

Friday Flashback

Luckily my younger sister spends the night most Thursdays, so she can help me out with a good memory or two for these Friday Flashbacks.

This one is about Legos.

We used to play Legos for HOURS. We would fight over the green flat pieces to build our houses and help each other find a blue 2 piece. A small blue one with two "dots on top". We'd build the most ordinary and mot craziest things. Then downstairs would come dad. His engineering mind would create something spectacular and we would try to mimic it. We would then showcase our creations on top of the entertainment center in the basement.

I remember storing the Legos on a sheet in toy box set aside for Legos only. We'd pull out the sheet and spread it out when we wanted to play and then gather it up to put it away. We had the same system at our grandparents house. Except we kept them in a small toy trashcan. There was a red one and a yellow one. I believe the Legos were kept in the yellow one.

I miss Legos and being a kid. The sound of our hands scraping through the pile in search of a specific piece was the best, and something I won't forget. Not to mention playing with Legos was always a family affair.
