Look What I Did!
My mom sent my grandma a happy birthday postcard made out of fabric. It was so cool I decided to make some in my free time (I'm on Vacation in AZ at my moms). I would like to let you know that I do not sew, at all. Though I have sewn before... that class in 7th grade.
I'm still wondering why no one responded to this post.

Friday Flashback
What I want to remember here are the memories.
*Once I was playing goalie, and randomly got a bloody nose. I had no idea what to do. I didn't want to sit down (what you do if your hurt in a game) becuase I wasn't really hurt... i was just thrown off.
*Hair scrunchies. Remember when it was a fad to have one of the parents take a bunch of fabric strips (team color of course) and tie them around a hair band for everyone? I had many of those. SO stupid and ugly. I only wore them becuase everyone else did.
*My hair. My hair had to be back in a tight ponytail with NO BUMPS. I would scream and cry at my mother if it wasn't perfect (sorry mom), and then I would coat it in hairspray... which would eventually sweat off into my eyes at some point during the game.
*Cooling Off. Cincinnati is incredibly hot and humid. I would take my water bottle, dump it over my head and pour water down my shingaurds to cool off.
* Half -time snacks. My favorite. There is nothing better than sinking your teeth into a nice cool orange slice on a hot sweaty summer day.
*Phillips Park. Where just about every home game was. I won't forget the field, losing balls over the fence, playing in the woods while my sisters had games, the playground, the snack bar. Great Place. I have been back.... and that place seams A LOT smaller.
*Flags. My mom once made flags our parents could put on the car antennas. I'm sure we were in some kind of tournament or something? or maybe we were just that bad ass.
*Trophies. I think I finally tossed them all at one point. But I had a billion. Any team my dad coached, we won.
*Running around before practice trying to figure out where I threw my shinguards and shoes the last time (they were never in the same spot). We also did this for games, usually we could find the shirt and shorts... but never the two socks.
*The soccer tan. This is more of a high school memory becuase I'm sure I didn't care/mind/notice when I was younger. The soccer tan is when you are tan on your knees only (also just arms, face and neck). Your shingaurds come up to right below your knee and your shorts above your knee... so this made tanning before dances a necessity.
I wish I was home to find a picture to include in this... I will have to see if my mother has one I can post!

Summer Book Review #3

Title: Love Walked In
By: Marisa de los Santos
Pages: 320
Book Description:
A tribute to classic film and true romance, LOVE WALKED IN tells the story of two women – one older, one younger – and the unexpected ways in which their lives are forever changed by chance. For thirty-one-year old Cornelia Brown, life is a series of movie moments, and “Jimmy Stewart is always and indisputably the best man in the world, unless Cary Grant should happen to show up.” So imagine Cornelia’s delight when her very own Cary Grant walks through the door of the hip Philadelphia café she manages. Handsome and debonair, Martin Grace sweeps Cornelia off her feet, becoming Cary Grant to Cornelia’s Katharine Hepburn, Clark Gable to her Joan Crawford. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, eleven-year-old Clare Hobbes must learn to fend for herself after her increasingly unstable mother has a breakdown and disappears. With no one to turn to, Clare seeks out her estranged father, and when the two of them show up at Cornelia’s café, the lives of Cornelia and Clare are changed in drastic and unexpected ways. A cinematic and heartfelt debut that pays homage to the classic Cary Grant/Katharine Hepburn romantic comedy The Philadelphia Story, Love Walked In is sure to win over critics and readers of contemporary fiction.
Would I recommend this read?
It was alright. Cute. Not really "my type" of read. There were a TON of references to old romantic movies... I haven't seen a one. The references were heavy in the beginning ... I was please not to come across as many in the 2nd half, but still with out seeing the movies - I was able to understand it well.
If anything this book has made me want to go rent some old-time movies.

I am In Love with Google
This is great. Just like ever other mapping website.... But I just figured out the other day that you can now drag and drop the line. I LOVE this feature. Sometimes the computer just gives a silly route, or doesn't know the back roads. Now you can adjust your route to your liking!
As a kid I used to ride my bike around town a lot. I probably shouldn't have because they were fairly busy roads... but I would ride down to the store for candy or to my moms work to bother her. There were a lot of different routes I took, often cutting from one side of town to the other by using the Loveland Bike Trail. I was curious to see how many miles the long route was, so I did some adjusting on google.

Jamaican me Crazy
conversation. The lady sitting behind them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of the men say the following:
"Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come once-a-more. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time."
"You foul-mouthed sex obsessed swine," retorted the lady indignantly. "In this country we don't speak aloud in pubic places about our sex lives.........
"Hey, coola down lady," said the man. "Who talkin' abouta sexa? I'm a justa tellin' my
frienda how to spella 'Mississippi'."

Friday Flashback

Did you ever go creek walking as a kid? We sure did. I used to go mostly with my old friend Rebekah. She lived a couple houses down. I would guess that we would at least walk about a mile.. We'd step from stone to stone and where it got deep we would walk on the banks... but most of the time we would just trudge right on through.
I remember passing one house who happened to have a deer head hanging from a tree in the back yard. It was absolutely disgusting... You can imagine the stories we had about why it was there. I know now that it was probably up there becuase it had been hunted and was being... um drained or something? For display later (actually I still don't KNOW, but that is my guess)? It was gross, but we looked for it every time we went. It eventually disappeared. Animals ate it, so we thought.
We would walk and walk and be out there absolutely all day. Our toes were nice and pruney when we got back.
I remember one time my sister and her friend (Rebekah's brother) made it all the way to town via the creek... they called my mom and she went to pick them up.
...Those were the days...

How I Spent My 4th
We ate, played corn hole, ate some more, and hung out. Oh yeah, there were some pretty awesome fireworks too... most of which I'm sure are/were "illegal."
We also did sparklers. My absolute favorite.

Erika Simpson

Found on Kiwis Can Fly .... Go make your own Simpson...
here is mine... The slimmer version of me ;-)
8 Random Things
"My instructions are to discuss eight rather random things about me.
Hey - I think I can do that."
1. Last night I got in a fight with a woman at the grocery store. Just words. But It would have been great to sock her in the face. Everyone else wanted to too. I could tell. She left not once but TWICE to go "put something back" ...she was in front of me. I didn't feel like pushing her cart up so I moved in front of it... along with another customer. Hey bitch you snooze you loose. When she came back (with more things) she asked me "why did you do that?" I told her if she is still grocery shopping she shouldn't get in line. I also told her that I didn't feel like pushing her cart up. She said "If you loose some weight maybe you could" I told her "that made you seem real intelligent, congratulations" ... what I should have said... "bitch that lip liner isn't actually supposed to outline your fucking lips, its only to add a LITTLE pop. You look like fucking bozo the clown. And learn some fucking English."
2. I'm going to Arizona in less than a month and I CANNOT WAIT! Heyyy momma!
3. Though I get carded about everywhere I go, because I might look like I'm 12... I have recently looked in the mirror and felt "older" I don't know how to explain it. I just feel like I look older. It's weird I know. I'm only 22... maybe it's the tan?
4. This girl likes guy. But doesn't know what the hell is going on in guys head. Typical right?
5. I love arts and crafts. I like getting messy but my creations are always neat, organized and proportional. I think I get this perfectionism from both my mother and my father... the creativeness... Is 100% from my mom.
6. I think outside the box. I can almost always think of a more logical, easier, and effective way of doing something than you are. My way is always better. LOL. This is how I think anyway.
7. I am a very shy person. However I won't hesitate to say what is on my mind (when appropriate). It's weird.
8. I like say like a freaking like lot. This is something I'm trying to work on.
Now I tag YOU!

Michigan
My friend and I decided to go up to Michigan to get away from Cincinnati. My grandparents have a boat on a lake up there... so going out on the lake was going to be the highlight of the trip.... until we started to go and the boat changed it's mind. We got stranded out on the lake and had to get a tow back in. We didn't even make it out of the bay! Grrr. I was upset because I was really looking forward to a swim! Oh well. We spend most of the day Saturday and Sunday Laying on the boat. Docked and frying. iamsosunburned.
