Book Review

Title: The Next Thing on My List
By: Jill Smolinski
Pages: 288

Book Description:
Meet June Parker. She works for L.A. Rideshare, adores her rent-stabilized apartment in Santa Monica, and struggles with losing a few pesky pounds.

But June’s life is about to change.

After a dark turn of events involving Weight Watchers, a chili recipe, and a car accident in which her passenger, Marissa, dies, June finds herself in possession of a list Marissa has written, “20 Things to Do By My 25th Birthday.” Even though they barely knew eachother, June is compelled by both guilt and a desire to set things right and finish the list for Marissa.

The tasks before her range from inspiring (Run a 5K), to daring (Go braless), to near-impossible (Change someone’s life), and as June races to achieve each goal before the deadline, she learns more about her own life than she ever bargained for.

Funny, engaging, and heartwarming, The Next Thing on My List features a loveable, relatable heroine and a story with plenty of humor and heart.

What I thought:
I really liked this book. It was very inspiring and has left me wanting to make a list of things to do before I turn 25. However that only gives me a year and a half... not enough time to accomplish what I would like... Maybe I'll make a "bucket list" lol.

I give this book 4.0 out of 5

What do you Collect?

Click the picture to see a larger version of what I collect... or shall we say "accumulated over the years" :-) This picture only includes some of the money and trinkets I have, but hey it's all I could fit on my scanner!

My personal favorite of the bunch is the nickel with the smiley sticker on it. I got it in my change one day and just couldn't let it go... so I added it to my stash. The big gold trinket things belonged to my Great Grandpa. I have no idea what the story is behind them, if there even is one. I love though, that the swan one has a hole drilled in it, meaning it was probably made into a necklace at one point and proudly worn (last name Swan). The silver ones are a result of me trying to research them... some how I wound up on eBay ;-) they were cheap so I got them to add to my collection.

The rest of it was either found by me... (silver change wheat pennies, money from Canada, the bills).. or bought from(traded out of) my own till at past jobs. I always get excited a work when I get something different than the norm ;-). Some of the foreign money was brought by exchange students or people traveling, let me tell you... sometimes a nickel form a different place is the best souvenir, save your time and don't buy anything.

So what do you collect?

Signs of Spring

Yesterday I was walking past the back door and to my surprise I saw a family of quails. There was a Mama, a Papa and four baby chicks. Did you know a baby Quail can be called a chick or a cheeper?

No Quails in Cincinnati... I love these little birds with their funny little top feather thingy. Too cute. Here is Mama with one of her babies...

Friday Flashback

Man I haven't done one of these in a while! But now with scheduled posts now possible on blogger I think I might be able to keep up with it a little more... It's really Saturday as I write this but it won't show until Friday next week! Ah-maze-ing.

Me and my sisters used to built tents. Tent's like no other. Usually Sara, who is the oldest would organize/see over the building of the tent. We usually built them in the basement and centered the tent on the pin-pong table. We would drape over sheet & blankets and hold them in place at the top with the encyclopedias. Most of the time they became very elaborate with the addition of chairs couches and what ever else we found useful. Sometimes we'd spend the night in the tents we built, but most of the time I think we chickened out. Or at least I did. The basement in the dark was kind of creepy!

I'm leaving Monday morning!

The computer is the last thing to pack.... but, see you guys next week sometime!

I'm it.

I've been tagged...

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Here are the 7 random facts about me:

1) I've been using hand soap as body wash for the past two weeks. I'm moving and don't want to buy more.
2) I hate mustard, cheese and egg yolk.
3) I don't like ice in my drinks. It tastes so gross when it starts to melt.
4) I'm driving to Arizona Monday.
5) I hate shopping. Clothes and food.
6) I love pickeled baby corn and ranch sunflower seeds - but not together.
7) I only got/have one of my wisdom teeth and it will probably never break the surface.

...consider yourself tagged - if you want to.
