Road TRIPPPP

As some of you may know, I'm driving to Cincinnati and back in June/July for my friends wedding. These routes are tentative, and I'm not sure which one I will do first. All I know is I'm going to get a cache in each state and take a crapload of pictures!! I'm not even 100% sure when I'm leaving - it all depends on when I have to work and if my friend is coming with me one of the ways.

I'm going to do some touristy things along each way (think Route 66ish type of stuff). Some of them have caches - so that's exciting! Anyway - what I'm looking for are good cache recommendations. I probably won't be able to do many becuase of time... but if it's worth stopping for I'd love to try it! If possible I'd like to meet some cachers - but again I don't know what kind of time I will have so who knows on that...

What do you have for me?

  1. GOOD LUCK on your trip!! We just did that on our drive up to the interior of BC. It was a lot of fun seeing all these rest stops along the way, some of them we didn't even know existed and were really beautiful!

    have fun
i hope your friend joins you for some of it too :)

  2. I'm not a cacher, but you'll be driving about an hour and a half north of me when you go through IL. If you want to meet up for lunch or something on your way by, let me know and I'd be happy to drive up! :)

  3. I vote for the more southernly route, to drive thru Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky. It's my favorite part of the trip, scenery is really nice! Miss you already.

  4. If you're going to be anywhere near Kansas, you have to hit Mingo (GC30) -- it's the oldest active cache in the world!

  5. For wierd kitschy touristy sites check out www.RoadsideAmerica.com. I always check it before I road trip because they list those wierd tourist things from the 50's that are still around like motels shaped like teepees, Car Henge, etc. you'd dig it!
