While most of these products will probably not help you actually survive in the middle of the jungle, desert or tundra - they may help with that unexpected sudden downpour, random scratch or just make you feel a bit more comfortable while out in the wilderness.
The giveaway "Survival Kit" includes..
Possible uses for your potential winnings:
Swag items, event prizes, hiking bag/car/purse emergency stash, camping supplies, a gift for someone else - the sky's the limit, all you have to do is win it!

The first item I would use... the insect kit. I apparently taste really yummy to mosquitos and other flying pests. You would think I would stay prepared, but when I go caching I find it wasn't always planned beforehand. BTW my twitter name is SamZzz and I am TeamZebra on gc.com.
ReplyDeleteThe poncho would be the first one I use, it often rains on me when I don't have a jacket.
ReplyDeleteI'd almost certainly use the multi-tool first, to get a minute log sheet out of a minute cache, the UK is literally littered with the darn things. Do you post prizes to the UK? :-)

I would use the first aid kit. I tend to need it after going in the woods, and getting into the thorns.
ReplyDeleteI also tweeted about the contest. @adairmd
ReplyDeleteId definitely use the hand warmers first. Chicago winters suck and my hands get cold really quickly to begin with.
ReplyDeleteThe thing we would probably use first is the insect protection. It never fails... one of always gets bit by something.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
I also tweeted about the contest. @harleydreams
ReplyDeleteAfter serious and careful consideration about who I go Geocaching with and how the Littlest_Hkr has a tendancy to become scratched and poked and cut. We would use the small First Aide Kit first. It is what we use the most now in the gear we carry. We are forever getting poked, cut, scraped, and just down right tore up. I could show you the scars from some of our Geocaching trips, but I want people to think Geocaching is a fun pain free activity. :-)
ReplyDeleteKeep up the wonderful work on your blog, we always enjoy reading it and checking out the creative photography.
You can see how we follow Erika Jean on our blog. The link is over there on the right hand side. ----->

ReplyDeletethe camp utensils!!! last time we went camping we had to eat ramen with our hands because we had forgotten utensils LOL
ReplyDeleteI'd probably end up using the pocket knife first because it never fails that I don't have a knife when I need one, lol.
ReplyDeleteI already subscribe via RSS. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd probably use the tiny zippered green swag bag because the compartment in my fanny/purse is a tad bit too small for a lot of swag. I love to trade swag!!
ReplyDeleteI tweeted! :)
I'm going to subscribe. I think I have using google reader already, however I usually don't use it. I use my blog's sidebar and pick and choose which blog I feel like reading at the time guessing to see who's updated! :P I although, would love to find a rss reader that I will use! so perhaps I'll try another.
I guess I'm strange in the fact that I just want a reader that shows me a list of updated blogs using their links only!! I think what's the point of people decorating their blogs so nicly when their posts can be read in a reader!?!?! I prefer to go to the actual site, and only see updated links in a reader. Do you know of one that does that? I'm going to see if I can change the layout of google reader right now!
ps do you still have my address? in case I win?!?! :)
I'm going to say that I would use the rope or pocket knife first. Rope for riding (I could pull along slower people) or the pocket knife (popin beer bottles)
ReplyDelete@stevegarfinkel
I might be out close to your way in about a month
BTW: I tweeted! @SamZzz
ReplyDeleteI would use the First Aid Kit first because someone in my family usually gets a cut and this would come in handy.

definitely the pancho. My son wants to go geocaching rain or shine or dark of night. It would be nice to stay dry :-)

The rope definitely.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm lost -with a GPS- it's because I wandered and lost signal.
I'd use the rope to tie myself to a tree, so I stay put. Just like I learned in Cub Scouts.
We have been having a rainy summer so the Rain Poncho would get used first.

I would use the wistle first as I get lost easily
ReplyDeleteIf it didn't have coordinates on it I would probably loose it before I got a chance to use anything from the kit.
ReplyDeleteI'd use the 4-in-1 keychain probably. I'm forever forgetting to mark a waypoint for my truck when I'm out geocaching and often get turned around. I'd use the whistle to signal for help in the woods, the compass to head in the proper direction to the nearest road, and the thermometer to tell me it's too hot or too cold to be lost in the woods!
ReplyDeleteI already subscribe to your great blog through RSS in Google Reader.

ReplyDeleteI would probably use the insect kit first, since my home is also home to highly disciplined, well trained mosquitoes.
ReplyDeleteI subscribe to your blog via Google Reader.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely use the pocket knife first. I could use the little scissors and screwdriver and knife at work every day.
ReplyDeleteI subscribe to your blog via Google Reader. I did this months back. It is kinda cool I see what new posts you have everyday on my iGoogle page.
ReplyDeleteBlogged about it at http://badanimal4.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteTwittered!
ReplyDeleteWell.. I figured that you kept tweeting about it, so I might as well enter the contest: "I would end up using the pocket knife first. My wife tends to like to find all the caches placed by animals! You know the stinky, sticky geocaches that attach themselves to the bottom of your shoes/boots! Yes, I would use the knife part to pick out the poop from her shoes. Wouldn't be a caching trip without someone getting poop on their shoes and smearing it ALL OVER THE CLEAN VAN!!!" :)
