Postcrossing Sunday

Today, I'm going to show you how I organize my postcards. Someday when I have my own house, I plan on stuffing the postcards in the drawers of my coffee table. I guess that means I'll have to have one with drawers (I love how I base my future furniture on the fact that I will indeed have a crap-load of postcards). Anyway, I figure the coffee table is the best place and it may be interesting for a future bored house guest to have a look though them.

I don't have a place of my own yet, so I've got to keep all these cards someplace for now. I picked up these simple pencil boxes at Walgreens for $1.99. I'm assuming you could get them cheaper at a place like the dollar store, but I didn't feel like driving all the way over there... When I get more postcards I figure I will have to move them into a photo box or something - but I hope not too soon, because these little boxes fit perfectly in my desk!

Do you keep your cards?

How do you organize or where do you keep your cards?

  1. My wife is at the 100 Yen store right this moment (dollar store) getting inserts and binders to put them into. That stuff is super cheap here (think "scrapbooking" stores in the states, but on a dollar store budget).

I think I'll just keep them in chronological order, but I may sort them by country later. Who knows?

  2. Erika, I finally did find a place that has postcards and stamps. They are currently sitting on top of my printer/scanner. After seeing your post, I thought I should have a spot for them. I went by the dollar store but all they had were food containers. I went by Walgreens and they had the same exact containers marked $1.99 each or 3 for 3.98. So, I picked up a green one, a blue one and a clear one. Took them to the counter and they rang up as 69 cents each ($2.22 with tax for all three)! So, I'll use one to hold the postcards and the other two for other things. Thank you for this post.

  3. I have similar plans for my postcards, magnets, and coins from around the world.. I was going to coffee table the coins though. I also have lots of old sheet music from the 20's with that beautiful art, once I have a house of course I will have to put it somewhere!

  4. Being I currently only have 16 postcards received, I haven't done much besides keep them together. I'll, eventually, have to find somewhere to put them.

I do have plans for the future... but I'll save that until I know for sure.

That being said, I am also in the process of scanning them so I can blog about them. ;)
