Erika, the new Martha

Getting gifts for the families I babysit for is always hard, and I must admit a little awkward. I never know what to get! Last year the gifts were more for the parents, since the kiddos weren't really old enough to "enjoy" a gift.

This year since the kids are waking, talking, whacking each other in the head, and peeing on the potty - I decided to focus the gift on them this time. I didn't just want to get another toy for them not to play with.... so I decided to go the arts and crafts route. I love doing crafts when I babysit, but since the kids are young - they don't have much of a stash. So I bought a box, added some finger paints, a paint brush, a couple pens and some stickers to get the stash started.

Oh yeah, I made a mini apron too! I used a fabric napkin from Khols! A whopping$ 1.99! I've never been good at sewing - and this is my first real "project." It was fairly simple and I did it all by myself! Haha . Actually, I had my mom add some of the by-hand finishing touches ;-)

Weee! I know this sounds corny - but I'm so excited I made this!

If you are interested in making your own Google "Dish towel apron for kids." I didn't use any particular pattern... I just looked at a couple to get ideas then did it how I wanted ;-)

  1. Look out Martha is right she might have some competition! I love it and what a great idea!

  2. You did a great job! I love the fabric.

  3. It's looks very funny! Here, I am feeling like in Hawaii! ;)

  4. Woohoo! It looks great.

(Hey, I know what could be one of your future giveaways, too.... :P )

  5. Make sure you show the "boy" one too! You did such a great job.

  6. That's adorable! The apron will come in handy when you break out the finger paints later. What an awesome gift.

  7. These aprons are C U T E!!!! You are totally the new Martha.
