Couch to 5k

I'm going to attempt the Couch to 5k program!

It should be interesting... considering I am really really out of shape... but it's worth a try! I'm starting today and plan to update my progress here weekly as well as on my DailyMile page.

I'm honestly interested to see if I can even do the first workout.
Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
I'm planning on doing a 5k November 14th... Wish me luck!

  1. I've actually been thinking about doing this, too. I got through last week with work and softball is now over, so I need to do something. I, too, should get in gear.

I hope you get to that 5K and do well!

  2. Go for it, Erika. It's a great program. I didn't finish the whole thing, but it got me moving again.

  3. You can do it girl.

I didn't believe I could do it either. 6 weeks ago I could barely run the 90 sec segments. Last night I ran for at least 28 minutes and ended up doing 4km total in 36 minutes.

I am a big guy (258 or so when I started, 245 now) and have never been a runner except soccer or basketball practice. Never for distance.

    I have faith in you.

  4. You can do it!!!!!

6 weeks ago I would have never thought I could be a runner. I would suck serious wind during the 90 second intervals. It was pathetic.

Last night I ran for at least 28 minutes straight, with a 100m climb thrown in for good measure. I completed 4k in 36 minutes. I am not fast but I am moving.

You can to can do what thousands have already done. Gone from couch shape to running shape in 9 weeks.

I can't wait to read your upcoming blogs about this.

    Run safe,

  9. Oh my goodness - maybe I should join you. My good start with daily mile has faded away badly the last few weeks.
