Neti Pot

I'm not swearing by it yet, but I'm real pleased with my Neti Pot so far. Last week I was having some major sinus blockage. I think I was pretty darn close to a sinus infection. I'm quite prone to them, so in attempt to nip it in the bud... I bought a Neti Pot.

My mom uses one regularly, but I never really thought I could stand the water up my nose. I thought it'd be horrible like when you get water in your nose while swimming... but it wasn't like that at all.

Anyway, I'm sharing my love for the Neti pot so that those of you out there who have thought about trying it, might actually go get one! I used it for a few days and chase my congestion away!

Things to remember...
*Breath.
*Use warm water.
*Don't use table salt (it will dry you out).
Use pure sea salt in your neti pot. Iodized salt, or table salt, may contain additives that irritate the nasal membranes. Rock salt also may cause irritation.
*Don't do it if one or both nostrils are completely blocked. (otherwise you might have ear issues).

You mentioned that table salt should NOT be used. Please could you advise which one is good. Thanks

  2. ..and don't do it with just plain water. It's painful beyond your imagination! Don't ask how I know.

  5. This just makes me nervous. I feel like it will give me the sensation of getting water up my nose like when you biff in water skiing.
