Stockton Pass

I took a mini roadtrip for geocaches today. I didn't get as many as I had hoped, but I did end the day with 9. I mostly went for park and grabs, I really just wanted to drive and listen to music. I decided to head to Safford, Arizona via Stockton Pass (between Fort Grant and 191). Stockton Pass cuts through the Coronado national Forest and is an absolutely beautiful drive!

A lot of the caches along this road required going though the tall grass... with the real possibility of snakes and having a minor injury (more on that later). I decided to pass up most of them. I really just enjoyed the views, I loved it.

There weren't any designated spots to stop and soak in the scenery - But I would have loved them. I saw sooo many picture opportunities, but with most of the side of the road being very grassy, I didn't stop. Smokey would have been upset if my car started a fire! Did you know your the heat from your car can spark a fire? ...Thanks mom for reminding me!

  1. Wow! The picture of the Yellow flowers in the grass with that beautiful blue sky is so lovely! Makes me think I should take my DSLR caching instead on my little compact camera... :) Love the blog, I will keep an eye on your posts!

  2. @geocass - I almost always take my DSLR, unless I'm trying one with a difficult terrain rating ;-)

  3. How about that, you were in my neck of the woods! Let me know the next time you visit and I'll give you my number so I can be your "Phone A Friend" if you get stuck on a cache. :D
