Happy Birthday America

America's Birthday Candle - The Sparkler

America's Birthday Candle - The Sparkler

I don't think they make them like they used to when I was a kid. They now take forever to light, burn faster, don't make as much of a hissing sound and you can't feel the sparks as much.... but I still love 'em. To me, they'll never get old.

And yes, I painted my self some patriotic nails! I had a little time on my hands, pun intended.

I think I'm skipping festivities for the 4th, it's just too darn H O T and crowds don't seem too appealing to me this evening. They don't do fireworks here in AZ like they did in OH. A lot of the firework shows around town are cancelled because of the fire danger. Our local town is still putting on a show - but it just seems like a waste of time for a small firework show. :-/

How did you, or how are you going to celebrate the 4th?

  1. We have LOTS of good memories of fireworks back in Ohio tho!

When I was little, my parents would take me to the drive-in movie where they would shoot off fireworks late at night. People would line the road with cars to horn-in on watching the fireworks! Yeah, we were on the outside looking in too.

not much of a 'celebrater' here...we'll be staying home...BBQing...listening & watching fireworks in the distance...

  8. Great pic! I agree - the sparklers when we were kids were much sturdier.

  9. we have been to one 4th july celebrations in all the years we have travelled to America, this was a good number of years ago our friends in WI took us that night to a lakeside which was lovely, where we sat and watched the firework display over the water. Then icecream at midnight on the way back to their house.
